1. How do I calculate the amount of stone needed for a small wall around my patio?
Multiply the length, width and height of the wall to acquire the total cubic feet. Divide the total cubic feet by 15 (15 cubic feet per ton). This formula will provide you with the amount of stone required per ton.
2. What is the required depth for installing a stone wall?
It will depend on the height and type of wall being built. For a dry wall the trench should be dug 6' to 12' deep. For a mortared wall the trench should be dug 42" deep or below the frost line. The trench should be 6" wider than the base on both sides of the wall.
3. I need a small retaining wall. What is the best way to build it?
We recommend visiting our showroom for the best concepts and direction. A retaining wall is not always a do-it-yourself project. You can use brick, block, natural stone or a segmental retaining wall systems for construction.
4. I want to extend the stone wall in front of my house. How can I match the stone?
You can bring a sample or a picture of your stone wall to the nearest Gault showroom, or request that one of our sales consultants visit your home or job site to help you with your project.
5. How hard is it to build a stone wall?
This depends on the type and size of the wall. Different types of materials require different methods of construction. Each site also has its own challenges such as soil conditions, the grade of slope, etc. Segmental retaining wall systems, natural stone, brick and block materials can be used in the construction process.
